Run -2292
Hare – Nicka Licka
Venue – Goose Ponds (Behind Goosies, Prick’s usual)
Hashers: 24
Despite uncertain conditions and a blustery wind along the ponds, 24 Hashers arrived for Nicka’s run. He was well prepared with a table cloth to protect us from dried splashes of goose poo and multiple objects to keep said protection from flying off.
In this Hasher’s humble opinion, Nicka’s trail was perfect for a social night…flat, decently marked, through back streets and along trails in a satisfying loop. Too bad Lassie was incapacitated and had to freeze back at the Hash table. We missed her usual unfailing leadership. The social interaction was so intensive, the whole gang, including Corgi (usually another unerring trail guide) missed two significant diagonal arrows and spent quite some time searching before we were finally back on trail. Just as all relaxed we were practically taken out like 9 pins by a mad driver doing 90km/hr around a blind corner. IDIOT!!!
Two home-made dips, bickies and chips greeted us on a successful return. The unwary may have had a fiery, red morning today!
Circle was called by fill-in Screw. Good thing he could make it because without Monk, Monk-key and GM, we were Screwed…the usual routine with some returning runners: Titanic, RareButt and Israel, and Hard Drive, as well as some tag-a-longs with Raggedy and Golly: Marie and Alan. They fit right in!
Noodles and another treacherous choice between Nicka’s normal ‘hot’ and Nicka’s concession ‘mild’ stews/curries filled our bellies. A yummy tub of bite-sized brownies was pleasing everyone when suddenly…
Gusting wind and a driving squall drove most folks to a hasty ON-ON. Thank-you, Nicka! And Nicka probably thanked Piccolo, Corgi and Daffodil who were helping him tidy flapping, wet table cloth, cutlery, dirty bowls and numerous pots as we drove off.
I’ll see everyone in Shoal Point on September 30th!
Meanwhile join Mango and Pensioner at Annie Wood Park for another interesting and fun Hashy Run next Monday. Sorry I can’t be there. Thanks for swapping run reports, Pench.
