Run #2292

Date – 16/09/2024
Run -2292
Hare – Nicka Licka
Venue – Goose Ponds (Behind Goosies, Prick’s usual)
Hashers: 24

Despite uncertain conditions and a blustery wind along the ponds, 24 Hashers arrived for Nicka’s run.  He was well prepared with a table cloth to protect us from dried splashes of goose poo and multiple objects to keep said protection from flying off.

In this Hasher’s humble opinion, Nicka’s trail was perfect for a social night…flat, decently marked, through back streets and along trails in a satisfying loop.  Too bad Lassie was incapacitated and had to freeze back at the Hash table.  We missed her usual unfailing leadership.  The social interaction was so intensive, the whole gang, including Corgi (usually another unerring trail guide) missed two significant diagonal arrows and spent quite some time searching before we were finally back on trail.  Just as all relaxed we were practically taken out like 9 pins by a mad driver doing 90km/hr around a blind corner.  IDIOT!!!

Two home-made dips, bickies and chips greeted us on a successful return.  The unwary may have had a fiery, red morning today!

Circle was called by fill-in Screw.  Good thing he could make it because without Monk, Monk-key and GM, we were Screwed…the usual routine with some returning runners: Titanic, RareButt and Israel, and Hard Drive, as well as some tag-a-longs with Raggedy and Golly: Marie and Alan.  They fit right in!

Noodles and another treacherous choice between Nicka’s normal ‘hot’ and Nicka’s concession ‘mild’ stews/curries filled our bellies.   A yummy tub of bite-sized brownies was pleasing everyone when suddenly…

Gusting wind and a driving squall drove most folks to a hasty ON-ON.  Thank-you, Nicka!  And Nicka probably thanked Piccolo, Corgi and Daffodil who were helping him tidy flapping, wet table cloth, cutlery, dirty bowls and numerous pots as we drove off.

I’ll see everyone in Shoal Point on September 30th!

Meanwhile join Mango and Pensioner at Annie Wood Park for another interesting and fun Hashy Run next Monday.  Sorry I can’t be there.  Thanks for swapping run reports, Pench.

Run #2291

Date – 09/09/2024
Run -2291
Hare – Screw & Fork
Venue – Mulherin Park, Mackay Harbour
Hashers: 25

20 plus Hashers, (only have 10 fingers & 10 toes) (apparently Tazan has 10 more toes) turned out to fool themselves that they still retained some level of fitness.

At 6.00 ish we all (except those that didn’t) ambled off in the direction of the golf ball way up there on the top of the hill across a very hungry field with long grass runners trying to entangle unsuspecting victims and delay their best efforts to obtain the goal of the piss stop “way up there at the top of the hill”   Some hares have a sadistic streak.

Back to the start where the drinks were cold and waiting, and the hares regained brownie points with two cobs which were consumed at a rapid rate by the flock of hungry seagulls, as usual.

Peace and harmony was being restored when the monk stuffed it up by calling the circle and proceeded to destroy the reputation of the world famous finger licking good Cnl Sanders.

After recovering from that shock, the circle proceeded and lots of things happened “Apparently”.

Jokes and stories told, fines, birthdays, notable run events and the GM’s somewhat pathetic fashion parade and even a returning runner.

You will notice that I am a bit vague about the details of the circle that is because, I was talking enjoying my beer and completely forgot that I would be required to write the run report and really wasn’t taking much notice. The song was sung so I knew it was over.

Writing about the evening Nosh is a breeze, no matter what is served (tonight’s was very good). lt is served, the sea gulls swoop in a frantic feeding frenzy, quiet descends as it is consumed, empty containers put away and the level of conversation increases till the first person leaves then the exit happens and it’s all over till the same time next week

On on till the gooses next week.

Run -2288
Hare – Tarzan
Venue – 4 Evans Avenue, North Mackay
Hashers: 25
25 hashers commenced the run.

We went left through the Cremorne suburb after a bit the trail led through North Mackay and into the familiar territory of John Breen Park to a well-deserved piss stop then on back to the hares abode.

Here we had a smoking ceremony to rival that of Smuts the previous week. After the welcome ceremony and the usual history lesson the circle came and went. Song sung and we partook in the culinary delights. Thanks Tarzan, but wait there was desert, Boiled fruit cake, ice cream and bottled cream.

After that we all waddled home having drunk and eaten..happy chaps all of us.

Run #2287

Date – 12/08/2024
Run – 2287
Hare – Blurry
Venue – Cnr Peel & Alfred Streets, Mackay
Hashers: 22

Report for run 2287 at Blurry’s abode. A willing group of about 22 turned up accompanied by some very shoddy weather Ra. And we’re boosted by a virgin runner Callum & a visit from Show Us. All jarred off in the rain on a short run which suited most of us. Huddled in half of the garage & under a dodgy fly the circle endured The Monks weekly TALK. The charges were light on as well as jokes & true stories. Luckily Blurry thought well ahead & had a sumptuous meal of steaks & salads prepared. A good night was had. See ya next week at U- Turn’s joint. ON ON

Run #2286

Date – 05/08/2024
Run – 2286
Hare – Smut
Venue – 20 Royal Boulevard, Glenella
Hashers: 22

21 Brave Hashers arrived at the residence of our illustrious Monk, Smut, to take on the rain and the Monday Hash adventure.

Instructions were given regarding the markings, and off we went. I kept in close proximity to the ladies because they had umbrellas in case it rained. On a  well-marked trail through the streets of Glenella we trundled, till we came across the hare dishing out fruity-fizzy drinks at the piss stop. After slating our thirst, we headed back home where we had the traditional smoking ceremony and welcome to country. Thankfully Miss Corgy was on duty regarding the fire, and with much coaxing and blowing, the fire stopped smoking and started burning, Ye Ha!

The circle was called, and the compulsory history lesson was presented by Smut. After that charges were given to the deserved, including a self-charge (never seen that b4) given to himself by Pensioner for spitting the dummy at the previous weeks executive lunch. Awards for Lassie, 400 runs??, and Golly 600 runs were presented, along with a Hashy Birthday award to Tarzan for getting older. Returning runner ½ a boat, was given a drink and other important stuff happened, but my focus started drifting and can’t recall. The hash song was sung, and the circle closed.

Then from inside the house, Smut started bringing out the Hash nosh, and the crew attacked the tucker with gusto. Three different dishes were presented for our tasting, that had healthy ingredients, and they were all very good.

After the tucker, more refreshments were guzzled to the point where the esky was looking very bare.

Bellies full, bodies relaxed and minds refreshed, we all started drifting off home. A good night without rain…….excellent.

I want you all to pray to your different gods to keep next Monday night free of rain, caus the Hash will be from my place, on the corner of Peel n Alfred St, and I have no wet weather cover.

I’ll see you all there. (I hope)

Bleary or Blurry.

Run #2285

Date – 29/07/2024
Run -2285
Hare – Golly
Venue – 4 Trochus Court, Shoal Point
Hashers: 17

Eighteen or so hardy individuals braved the cold and blustery conditions and arrived, with much anticipation, at 4 Trochus Court, Shoal Point, where Golly had jerry-rigged up a tarpaulin to break the wind plus had the customary winter-months fire pit stoked up.

After a fair amount of coaxing, the bulk of the attendees reluctantly gathered on the cul-de-sac to listen to what Golly was trying to pass-off as run instructions – there was a mention of piss-stop, but most dismissed this advice as Golly taking the piss.

Front runners set-off, following a well-marked path to the further-most point of the walk at Pappy’s Beach Estate, where they were greeted by Golly with sweet substance that contained magical qualities able to transform Blurry into Peter Pan.

When the stragglers finally caught up and took possession of their cup-full of elixir of life, the discussion turned to the excellent investment opportunities that surrounded them, with many imagining the tranquillity of living on an expansive 300sqm of beachside land.

After a brisk walk home into the bracing wind, a generous helping of savoury pastries were served which were devoured in astonishingly quick time.

The circle was called, a highly forgetful history trip delivered, a series of charges and reverse charges were laid followed by some attempts at humour, with outcomes ranging from hearty belly-laughs to quizzical looks on faces.

Following a rousing rendition of the Hash song due to the run being held on the northern beaches, the hosts rolled out a tasty bread roll / ham of the bone / salad smorgasbord followed up by a novel, toast-your-own, marshmallows.

Cholate coated TV snacks were passed around to sooth some of the burn injuries suffered by the marshmallow toasting experience.

When participants were stuffed full of beer, burgers and sugar, they waddled of to their cars and set-off for home to focus on the mammoth digestive process ahead of them plus begin preparing for next week’s run at 20 Royal Boulevard, Glenella.

Run # 2283

Date – 15/07/2024
Run -2283
Hare – Prick
Venue – BBQ Area on Gooseponds behind Goosies Sport & Rec Club
Hashers: 17

17 rugged up hashers met at the Gooseponds Park on on a nippy Monday night ready for the night’s run. Prick gave us instructions and off we went along the path towards Glenpark Street Bridge, under the bridge, tuned right, over the bridge and towards the old Evans Av. Road crossing. Heading back over the Gooseponds we made our way home, must have been the shortest run of the year, only 1.7 kilometres, but nobody complained.

After potato chips for nibbles and a beer the circle was called by the Monkee, Shocker, in the absence of Smut. Prick was charged for setting a Shit Hot run, Blurry for telling his Donald Duck joke to a few hashers on the run, before the circle (Trump’s shooting was a hot topic on the night), Daffodil charged Corgi for putting up with him for 39 years after their Hash Wedding date. Termite got charged for Juices trip which resulted in a cracked rib. Others I can’t recall. Jokes and stories were told by Tarzan, Flaps, Blurry, Uturn and others.

Prick made an exit to pick up the hot pies, homemade tomato relish and sloppy peas which were happily consumed when he returned, followed by Tim Tams. Thanks Prick, another good night was had by all.

On On, Daffodil and Corgi

Next’s week’s run – Park at Ooralea Waters, Go west along Temples Lane, straight through the roundabout, turn left and continue to the park.
