Eighteen or so hardy individuals braved the cold and blustery conditions and arrived, with much anticipation, at 4 Trochus Court, Shoal Point, where Golly had jerry-rigged up a tarpaulin to break the wind plus had the customary winter-months fire pit stoked up.
After a fair amount of coaxing, the bulk of the attendees reluctantly gathered on the cul-de-sac to listen to what Golly was trying to pass-off as run instructions – there was a mention of piss-stop, but most dismissed this advice as Golly taking the piss.
Front runners set-off, following a well-marked path to the further-most point of the walk at Pappy’s Beach Estate, where they were greeted by Golly with sweet substance that contained magical qualities able to transform Blurry into Peter Pan.
When the stragglers finally caught up and took possession of their cup-full of elixir of life, the discussion turned to the excellent investment opportunities that surrounded them, with many imagining the tranquillity of living on an expansive 300sqm of beachside land.
After a brisk walk home into the bracing wind, a generous helping of savoury pastries were served which were devoured in astonishingly quick time.
The circle was called, a highly forgetful history trip delivered, a series of charges and reverse charges were laid followed by some attempts at humour, with outcomes ranging from hearty belly-laughs to quizzical looks on faces.
Following a rousing rendition of the Hash song due to the run being held on the northern beaches, the hosts rolled out a tasty bread roll / ham of the bone / salad smorgasbord followed up by a novel, toast-your-own, marshmallows.
Cholate coated TV snacks were passed around to sooth some of the burn injuries suffered by the marshmallow toasting experience.
When participants were stuffed full of beer, burgers and sugar, they waddled of to their cars and set-off for home to focus on the mammoth digestive process ahead of them plus begin preparing for next week’s run at 20 Royal Boulevard, Glenella.
