Run No #2366
Run Date: 02/02/26
Hare: Harbour & Mrs Appeal
Venue: Camilleri Park, Blacks beach
Hashers: 20
At 6.00 pm the pack set off from Camilleri Park. Unfortunately, the scribe for this week’s run was well south of that site but managed to navigate to the starting point at 6:10. (Blacks Beach has changed dramatically since the early 1970s). Knicka Licka was riding shotgun so pointed us in the general direction. Walking over the low bridge thru the scrub is enjoyable and puts you in a good mood. At the skate park the teens wanted to know if we were part of the runners or had we already lapped them. “Which way did they go and don’t give me the wrong direction”. After some time we met up with Raggedy Ann, Fork and Screw.
Starting to sound like the Chicken Little story. They also gave us directions. As we puffed up the hill we met the pack just moving off from the drink stop. Daffodil sounded the horn lest our hearing was better than our eyesight. Considered throwing myself across the road in front of Mrs Appeal’s car but she would not be deterred from setting up for supper.
The run was clearly marked and easy to follow, a hill to walk up and down.
Obviously everyone was in a mellow mood back at the starting point, lounged back in their chairs with a drink and enjoyed the sea breeze after a warm day. It seemed like it was a Methodist young ladies picnic because no one stirred. But a spoilsport broke the spell and soon Shocker was barking out the charges.
The circle heard a few jokes, a clean one drew a lot of laughs, Fork & Screw were our returning runners. The GM and former GMs had a drink again together – forgotten why. The food presented was filling and very tasty.
